About Us
NÅ«n Films & Publishing
Nun Films and Publishing was established in 2014 in Ramallah, Palestine by writer and filmmaker Emtiaz Diab as a non-profit limited company, to incubate, produce and promote independent film-making and creative publishing and media initiatives. It draws upon a pool of talented professionals who can provide local film production services, filming/sound, editing and research support, networking and media outreach, as well as film and book event management.
NÅ«n also seeks to establish partnerships and joint projects with promising Palestinian and other artists working on Palestine, as well as like-minded Arab filmmakers, media and
writers. Its earliest efforts included disseminating Diab’s 2015 film “Nun wa Zaytun” as well as producing short promotional films for Palestinian institutions, and pre-production work on a major feature film by Diab, “Fly, Sylvana”.
In 2019, Nun Films and Publishing unveiled its forthcoming film “Birth of Words” (co-production with Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation and Ministry of Culture) drawing on hitherto unknown personal documents from the formative years of poet Mahmoud Darwish. For the film, Nun Films has assembled a team of first class Palestinian industry professionals. Including the Director Emtiaz Diab, Screenwriter Abdullah Erekat and Executive Producer Najwa Mbarki. The film crew includes Assistant Director Karam Ali, Director of Photography Mashal Kawasmi and Production Designer Waleed Mawed. An elegant book volume under the same title will also be published by the Palestinian Ministry of Culture in 2019.
